A blessed sage of Ioun discovered and protected a merger of the wild magic of the earth and the divine power of the gods. A moral sought the power for their own, killing the sage, and becoming the first sorcerer. The sage was raised to immortality as Mystra, watching over the Weave.

A moral sage of Ioun was able to visualize the connections between the wild magic of the earth, its denizens, and the divine powers of the gods themselves. She saw the pieces like a tangled loom, the magic came to be called Arcane. Her discoveries and visions guided by Ioun made her the target of ferocious attacks of jealousy. Mortals fueled by their own desires, or by the command of other deities and entities who wanted to understand the secret of arcane magic. She was murdered by such a moral, who stole her ability of sight. Arcana fused with the innate wild magic inside the blood and body of many living creatures of the material plane; the thief became the first sorcerer able to wield the power. For her discoveries and loyalty, the sage was raised to immortality as Mystra. She is charged with watching over the Weave, the arcane power that connects divinity to the wild magic of the planes and allows mortals to harness their innate power. No less powerful than its siblings. The blessing of the first mortal to immortality drastically changed the social climate of many diety interactions.
