Sunrise Shrimp

These little fellas are not only fun to watch scurry around, but they also play an important role in the food chain. If you're ever visiting an area with tidal pools or reefs, take a look around and you might spot them. I'll go over their appearance for easy identification.

    Sunrise shrimp are a common species found in shallow warm waters in Omari's tropical regions. They're lively and brightly colored; people of all ages enjoy observing them interact with their environment.    

Physical Description

  They are a smaller species of shrimp that only grow to a maximum length of 1 inch. The sunrise shrimp was named for their color gradient of red, orange, and yellow. Both male and females have the same coloration.

Habitat

  Sunrise shrimp live in tidal pools and coral reefs. They need pristine warm water to thrive. They're susceptible to pollutants and temperature changes. Areas with plenty of holes and hiding places are preferred.    

Diet

  They are bottom feeders who also feast on plankton. These shrimp will eat whatever algae and other plant matter that grows on the various surfaces in their habitats.
