OMBOT: Borderworlds
Saturday 21st of Vhod, 562 T.D.
Centuries have passed since the Travelers banished the Hunger and saved creation. Humanity is no longer chained to the Sol system and has spread to the far flung worlds of distant stars, thanks to the gift of Faster-than-light travel provided by the invention of the Jump Drive. However, this galaxy is not home to only humanity, and encompasses all of the Great Powers; the Pact Worlds, the Courts of Dukunna, the Turk-Nihon Dominion, and the Qunzain Empire.
After the events of the the Wild Hunt, the Orion War, and the Swarm Invasion, Known Space has settled into an tenuous balance. Despite the relative peace enjoyed since the repelling of the Swarms Incursion, there is unrest between the Great Powers, as old wounds are not so easily forgotten.
The once mighty Star Union has fallen, its leaders slain by treachery and the remains torn apart by factions vying for dominance and ascension to the Union's throne. The main body of the Swarm's forces have also been sighted in a sector on the edge of Known Space, a little too close to home for the anyones comfort, and have been edging closer, star by star for the last several years.
The Orks have been unusually quiet of late, with attacks on cargo ships dropping by significant margins. Many governments have seen this as a blessing, and have yet to investigate possible causes. Meanwhile, the Solar Quintet Alliance, a small polity that lies within the Borderlands Sector between the Great Powers, has announced the opening of their rim worlds to civilian colonization. Settlers from all over the Alliance, including one particular merry band, rush onwards to stake their claim and hopefully write their name into the history books.
