in some lands horses are replace by a breed of large flightless birds, Well know for their yellows feathers, gentle nature, and their distinct odor and chirp. Given their strength enough to carry a rider, incredible running speed, and loyal nature, chocobo are bred as effective mounts.

Though animal-like in appearance and nature, chocobo are intelligent enough to understand the speech of the races they live among. Though capable of following complex instructions they are easily distracted should fresh vegetables,particularly their favorite Gysahi Greens, cath their eye. In the wild they can be found in almost any terrain and are mostly peaceful creatures, living in flocks that migrate over wide areas like herds of horses. Though chocobo will defend themselves and thir young, particularly with their powerful legs and talons.

Trained Mounts

Chocobos can be easily trained as beasts of burden or swift mounts for travel and for warfare. Though any Chocobo is a fierce combatant if pressed, it takes special training to prepare them for war. But a battle-hardened bird combines with the loyalty of a well trained horse with the chocobos intelligence, should ones rider fall they will either carry them to safety or defend their body fiercely, A trained riding chocobo can cost as much as 400 gold coins, and the rarer breeds can cost well over ten times as much

Chocobo Breeding

Though primarily yellow, chocobo racing is popular sport in many lands and careful breeding has led not only to chocobos of vastly different colored feathers but also increased abilities, Chocobo adapted for travel over certain terrain, such as swimming chocobo or even ones that can fly. However such breeds are incredibly rare and heavily sought out by collectors and adventures alike.
