Ashkin

Touted as the spawn of sorcery, Ashkin are a humanoid race with horns and features that resemble those of mythological creatures known as Devils.
"... While most ashkin claim their ancestors migrated from Pyroborea, the truth of the matter is not a part of public record. The myth is, however, quite convincing and makes for an excellent origin story: the ancient ashkin were named as such because they spawned from the ashen sludge that remained after a great eruption that created the landmass of Pyroborea, which was fabled to create a sort of membrane between our world and another - a membrane which the ashkin broke through, and having earned their freedom from the hellscape which they previously occupied, determined to colonize the land and leave it before another great eruption took all their lives. They were said to have succeeded in creating vessels that ferried them across the ocean and to the mainland continent, where most of their species now exist.   While this tale sounds like something out of a fiction novel, the author must admit: stranger things have happened."
