Crystalline Warforged

Mighty automatons built to serve as protectors of the Crystal Towers and the tower's respective guardians, these sentient creatures are few and far between. They are, however, durable as time itself.
"... While those who have brought the Crystalline Warforged to life are long gone, some knowledge still remains of their operation - enough for the guardians to maintain their automaton servants, and keep them in their service for ages to come.   If my speaking in this manner is offputting in any way, I apologize. Every warforged the author has met has, invariably, spoken of themselves thus; as tools, as means to an end. They seem unbothered by their soulless condition, as long as they serve the purpose for which they are created. That said, the author has never met a warforged that eluded the condition of being bound to serve a tower and its guardian. If something were to happen and one of theirs was to be allowed to exist in the open, however, then we could truly see what colours they run."

  • A small excerpt from the book 'Intelligent Life in Gaia', by Hum'ro Skadi, as published in 2335 AFL.

  •   Crystalline Warforged were purpose-built to serve as wardens for the Crystal Towers, with very specific designs in mind to better serve as semi-conduits for the aspects of magic. Every one of their species is wildly different in nature and their particular strengths follow those patterns. While the wardens to the towers themselves are typically unable to leave their duties, a few older models - considered obsolete by the coming of subsequent iterations on their design - have been spotted wandering Gaia with varied motivations. These are so few and far between, however, that most of their existences go by unnoticed by the general public.   These machines inherently possess no souls, but due to the materials they are constructed from, carry vast magic potential and learn to be ever closer to their humanoid masters in demeanour as time passes.

Your Constitution score increases by 2, and one attribute of choice increases by 1.

    Size

Crystalline Warforged usually measure between 1,80m and 2,4m and weigh as much as 150kgs. Your size is Medium.

    Speed

Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

    Constructed Resilience

You were created to have remarkable fortitude, represented by the following benefits:
You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you have resistance to poison damage.
You don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe.
    You are immune to disease.
You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

    Sentry’s Rest

When you take a long rest, you must spend at least six hours in an inactive, motionless state, rather than sleeping. In this state, you appear inert, but it doesn’t render you unconscious, and you can see and hear as normal.

    Integrated Protection

Your body has built-in defensive layers, which can be enhanced with armor:
You gain a +1 bonus to Armor Class.
You can don only armor with which you have proficiency. To don armor, you must incorporate it into your body over the course of 1 hour, during which you remain in contact with the armor. To doff armor, you must spend 1 hour removing it. You can rest while donning or doffing armor in this way.
While you live, your armor can’t be removed from your body against your will.

    Telepathy

Possessing no voice boxes or any resemblance of biologic physiology, Crystalline Warforged are mute. However, they can communicate telepathically with any creature able to understand a language with relative ease.
Any humanoid creature hears a voice in their head in their native language.
Creatures with underdeveloped languages or cultures are communicated with by means of concepts and emotions.
The warforged can create a bond between them and any living creature by spending an hour near them. Afterwards, for the next 24 hours, the warforged can communicate concepts and emotions to the bonded target regardless of distance (as long as they reside in the same plane of existence).
Only five bonds can be established at a time.

    Caregiver Protocol

Warforged, as they are in this world, were largely created by powerful mages to be caretakers and wardens for the crystal towers of the aspects. As such, they were designed with features that allow them to protect and sustain others:
Once per short rest, warforged can draw upon the mana surrounding them and use an action to cast Mass Healing Word without expending a spell slot. This action cannot be augmented.
If an adjacent ally is hit by a melee or ranged attack, you can use your reaction to reduce the damage they take. Roll a D20: If the result is 14 or less, the target takes half damage(rounded down). If the result is 15 or more, your ally receives no damage. If the target is subject to a multi-attack, the overall damage can only be halved, regardless of result.
