Nepenthe
Nepenthe are a small, magically-gifted race whose wisdom and kindness are surpassed by none.
A small excerpt from the book 'Intelligent Life in Gaia', by Hum'ro Skadi, as published in 2335 AFL.
Beings of diminutive stature by normal standards, the Nepenthe are spread far and wide in the mainland continent. Naturally kind-hearted, the majority of the species lives a humble lifestyle guided by their spiritual beliefs. Seen as most nepenthi are born in Cran'Tal or from natives of that town, they are indoctrinated early on by the teachings of an ancient being known as The Shepherd, assumedly a nepenthe that guides the people and acts as a guardian for the Crystal Tower of Elements.
"... are very... Strange, to me. Their humble lifestyles point to some sort of spiritual enlightenment, and yet they follow the Shepherd in what I consider to be a rather blind fashion. They are selfless, most specimens of the race following a dogma that suggests this life is not our only one, and so we should devote our every effort to the betterment of others as well as our own, and to the safety of Gaia. The eldest among them seem utterly convinced that their efforts in life are but a preparation for what comes next. I'm not sure I've ever met a people and culture so devoted to a singular cause, and yet so humble and gentle."
