Travel in Omeria
This artice gives some information about normal methods of travel in Omeria.
Land
Ferren Carts
Beyond foot and horse, the Ferren Cart is the most common land-based transportation method. The 10-foot long cart has a steam engine in the back to allow it to move forwards. The engine uses a magic enchantment to generate heat and produce steam and pressure. Though it isn't much faster than a normal horse and cart, it does have the ability to go without pause except for the time it takes to refill the water every few hours. While this makes them more convenient than a horse, the Ferren Carts are very expensive to make and are usually only rented for travel between cities.Sea
Ferren Boats
Similarly to the Ferren Carts, Ferren Boats are powered by a combination of magic and science. The key difference is that because the boats always access to water, they can keep going without the need for a refill. These boats are still too expensive for most captains, so even though they move faster than sailing ships, they cost much more, and are harder to find.Trassarins
The Trassarin is a species of giant sea creatures. When domesticated from an early age, they form a strong bond with their "parent", allowing them to do things like control them and mount a platform on their back. This allows them to be used as seabourne mounts for shorter distances. It is particularly popular among richer people to take small cruises on the back of a trassarin, but they are also often used by druids to help kind travellers.Air
Skyships
Skyships are a prime example of the skill the artificers of Tembaricar had before they all disappeared. Through intricate enchanted mechanisms, these ships travel through the air at great speeds and are the fastest method of transportation, barring teleoprtation. Before Tembaricar went away, skyships were plenty and a common method for transporting wares. Now, they are much rarer and quite expensive, though larger shipping operations still use them, and rich people enjoy the calm and quick voyages.Magic
Teleportation
The very fastest way of transportation is to teleport. However, without a permanent teleportation circle to travel to, this can often be unpredictable. The Tembaricans created a network around the world of such circles, though most of them led back to Tembaricar itself, so they could claim a tax whenever the network was used. However, when the country came back, those circles were no longer functioning, making the network much more limited. Despite this, it is much more available to the normal person than before, as Tembaricar no longer controls the use of the portals. Local laws around their usage does vary, though.Remove these ads.
