Eldev
Overview
Eldev is the homeworld of the Eldevians. It is the first planet in the Ramakus Sub-system of the Warmaiden Nebula in the Main Sector. Its capital is Enmarn, which is home to the Eldevian Academy and the Coalition of Assassins. The plant boasts an average population of 6.4 billion.Traits
Classification
It was initially classified as Class 5 (terrestrial), but when the atmosphere turned toxic (due to a so far unaccounted for reaction of solar radiation and a previously unknown trace element in the atmosphere), it was reclassified as Class 4.5 (a unique classification, meaning it is habitable only with an atmospheric purifier). The lorav developed a filter system for the eldevians, making the air breathable. The sky remained green, however. Show SpoilerIn 3195, the atmosphere was cleaned, making the filter system obsolete. Enmarn, founded in 1205, is the biggest and most populated city on Eldev. It is the seat of the eldevian government and home to the Academy that trains all military, governmental, and potential Coalition of Assassins members.History
Arrival on Eldev
If another species inhabited Eldev before the eldevians arrived, there was no trace of them. It is thought that the Ancients once had outposts there, but any structures were long gone. Ramok wrote cryptic things about Eldev's history, indicating that there was likely a reason he chose Eldev, but not even the most learned Triadian scholars can work out the meanings. Ramok brought the eldevians to Eldev in 1198. There was never any need for an atmospheric filter system during his lifetime. In 3222, some of his personal journals were found indicating that Ramok suspected something was changing in the atmosphere. He was planning on asking the lorav for assistance, but before that could happen, Ramok was killed. His wife, Myra Dathren, stored the journals away within a locked vault under Enmarn's Triaddian Temple. Many wondered if she realized what was in those journals, as it would have given the eldevians of the time, still reeling from the death of their beloved leader, cause to investigate the changes in the atmosphere before it was too late.Effects of The Millennium War
Eldevians have always kept mostly to themselves, but the Millennium War sent them into further isolation. Eldev became sealed off from the rest of the quadrant, with only those with official business allowed to come and go. Life on the planet was difficult but rewarding for those not living in the cities. While the heavily populated areas stagnated except those focused on the war effort, rural life flourished. Farms had to be successful in order to sustain the entirety of the planet now cut off from any outside aid. Mining within the mountains and quarries also took off for a short while until it was deemed unsustainable. Lord President Morarr Hahven decreed that no more resources must be taken from the planet; otherwise, Eldev would be reduced to a barren wasteland. He allowed for travel to Eldev's sister planet, Felrev, to mine for resources there. If not for that action, 400 years of war would have indeed depleted all of Eldev's natural resources. After Royal T. Flush took over his father's business in 3162, he began supplying weapons, food, and resources to the eldevians, an act that likely saved them in the end.Aftermath
Show Spoiler The end of the Millennium War in 3193 marked the fall of Eldev. To stop the invading force, the Filter/Defense System had to be shut down entirely, rendering the planet uninhabitable due to the toxins in the atmosphere. However, in 3195, a team led by then Lieutenant Colonel Donovan Dewitt was able to rejuvenate the atmosphere and allow the eldevians to return. Because of this, Eldev was once again reclassified as a Class 5 planet.
