Genara

Divine Domains

Luck

Gamblers, sailors, and merchants alike all profess belief in Genara to some degree. Each would tell you that she is a fickle patron, and many find her favor mutable whether devout or apathetic. They also, however, would tell you of a time in their individual lives where her presence was made known, and her boons are undeniable.

Misfortune

As quickly as Genara favors her followers, she also will cause them misfortune. Believers often will invoke her name not to petition her, which would result in sure misfortune, but to beg her mercy and to have her pass them over while still in her good graces. Further, many have been known to undertake increasingly more daring and risky activities to ensure that Genara remains pleased with them. It is often muttered, "The goddess has turned her back." when witnessing a particularly unlucky event, in the hopes that Genara doesn't turn toward the speaker to present them with misfortune as well.

Rivers

As much as Genara's fickle nature ebbs and flows it is not without reason, followers agree. In this way, Genara's followers associate her with rivers. Genara "guides them down the river of their life, sometimes turning this way, and sometimes that way." The nomads that live along the river serve the goddess of luck almost exclusively, finding her meanderings to suit them and their lifestyle.

Tenets of Faith

  • As the river winds left and right, so too do the fortunes, but always in the same direction.
  • A life without risk is the only sure way to ruin and misfortune.
  • The turning of luck's back may divert misfortune's gaze.

Sigil

Genara is often depicted as a coin standing on its edge with a wavering shadow - The coin clearly representing Genara's association with luck and misfortune, stands on its edge as if to fall to either side. The wavering shadow is interpreted both as a further symbol of Genara's fickle nature and as a river, meandering and wild.
