Lords of the Radiant Coast
Each Lord is a Lord in his/her own right, owning land that they govern, and in some cases, small towns. As such, the Lords are wealthy individuals with stakes in the politics, economics and security of the Radiant Coast and the Free Cities.
Structure
Each Lord has an equal voice within the council of Lords, but maintains power over his/her own settlement only, seeking first to maintain their own land and secondarily to maintain the peace of the Radiant Coast.
History
What started as a community of individuals residing in the Coast, is now a loose coalition of Lords that strive to maintain order within the Radiant Coast, while simultaneously encouraging trade and the sharing of ideas.
Founded in 757 AO, with a group of only 10 Lords, the coalition has grown to 30 in number, including new Lords as the population of the coast grew. Each new Lord is required to certify benevolent governance of land in which no less than 1000 individuals reside, and must be offered a spot on the council by no less than 3 Lords currently recognized. While the Lords traditionally admitted only 1 Lord per decade, the rising struggle against piracy along the Radiant Coast and within the Narrow Sea has pushed the Radiant Lords to admit human Lords, all four of which have been admitted since 872 AO.
Territories
The Lords of the Radiant Coast hold scattered lands stretching north and south along the Radiant Coast, from Utopia, the Free Cities of Bonvenon and Sa'gev, Amnethyr of the Elves, to the dwarven city of Helvegen; and as far west as the World Spine Mountains.
