Given one task as a youngling, take the bomb strapped to his back, and hug the wizard who was destroying their town and enslaving their people, he succeeded in half of that. The bomb didn't go off, and no matter how hard he hugged, Omepheous couldn't stop the wizard.
The wizard is who gave him his name Omepheous, the Undetonated. And he trained him hard to use the poor, defeated kobold slave in an attempt to rebuild his army.
but the wizard was a coward, and among other things, had Omepheous draw from his first deck of many things. The wizard had heard that the deck could provide great power or great wealth, but could also kill or destroy whomever drew the card, so picking a small, measley person to draw, and minimize his risk, Omepheous drew multiple times, but is unclear about how many times he drew or which cards he picked. He likely drew balance, however, changing his nature from self serving and scared to break the rules (lawful evil) to selfless and a champion of freedom (chaotic good).
Since then he has killed that evil wizard, and dedicated his life to killing others. He isn't sure what happened to the rest of his clan, but has started to consider Dim Dark and Hazy has his new tribe.
