Skylands of Thaeron

A set of mostly wild floating islands off the northwestern coast of the mainland of Omiralon. Temperate in climate, mostly due to being thousands of feet in the air.

Geography

The Skylands, aside from being floating islands, are filled with rolling hills and plains. None of the islands are larger than 250² miles, and most are much smaller.

Fauna & Flora

The rolling hills of the Skylands are mostly filled with temperate forest, with a mix of deciduous and conifer trees. Most notably, a very large species of conifer is spread across the area, with most islands having at least one. These trees grow to be well over 200 feet tall, and are typically at the center of each island, their roots helping to control erosion of the bottom of each island.
Animals are typical of a temperate northern forest, including all manner of forest bird species, including the Haliaetan (Aarokocra) species, and many more small species. Small to medium ground-dwelling species also abound, including species as small as squirrels, to deer and elk, and even a small herd of unicorns; one of the few pockets of native unicorns in all of Omiralon.
