Few inhabitants of Omiralon have heard the tale of the Codices, and most of those that have regard them as tall tales - myths that have outgrown the truth. A select number of scholars - historians, holy men, and learned mages - know the truth. The Codices are real, and they have immense power within their pages.
Each Codex has its own tale of creator and creation, its own proclaimed power; Many even have multiple across the continent. They all have one thing in common, however - It is said that the weilder of each codex was inevitably killed by it's power.
