ORIGIN And HIBERNUS

The Story Of ORIGIN is a tale told by those within The Umbra, detailing information about a particular battle between two deities thousands of years ago and how it connects to the calamity that was World War III. It is a tale that those within the Shadowlands have held near and dear to their hearts, while those outside the Shadowlands find it rather absurd.

Summary

The story goes that, at some point at the beginning of the universe, there was a being known as ORIGIN. ORIGIN existed in several realms of existence at once; its eyes peering into every inch of reality. It was feared by all the denizens of each world in the universe, as ORIGIN did not know good from evil. It was a blind idiot, and to ORIGIN, it only saw living things as an abomination; judging their souls and eliminating whatever it stared upon. This would last until a being known as HIBERNUS was born. ORIGIN immediately despised HIBERNUS, for it had existed in the one realm it cannot touch: The Realm Of Nightmares.
Much like ORIGIN, HIBERNUS was feared by those in the other worlds, as wherever it went; there would be a cold that would envelop the surrounding space, freezing those who were unprepared. Upon becoming an adult, HIBERNUS, donning a six-eyed mask, stared upon ORIGIN as it judged its frozen soul. For the first time, ORIGIN felt something that it never felt before in its hundreds upon hundreds of years of existence: pure, unadulterated hate. ORIGIN struck at HIBERNUS, and the two fought for a time-span known as the 10,000 Days. At the end; HIBERNUS came out victorious, slaughtering ORIGIN; but this victory did not come without cost, as its own life was to end soon after from the injuries it sustained. For the next three hundred years all the realms would be frozen over, costing the lives of thousands; but it would be all worth it; because once the cold went away, there would come a spring that would last for the next three thousand years for all the realms.
It is said, however, that ORIGIN survived its humiliating defeat; and that it kept a watchful eye on the many universes around it, waiting for its return. Some within The Umbra believe that World War III was started because of ORIGIN's influence, manipulating those in power into freezing the entire world over. Those within The Umbra believe that on the day World War III began, HIBERNUS returned to continue its fight against ORIGIN. They believe that the time span between October 25th, 1962 and March 12th, 1990 was a second 10,000 Days, and that within another 300 years, there will be another long spring that will bless all of humanity.

This story is told throughout the entirety of the Shadowlands, held with the highest regard by all those within it. Originally, the story was a closely-kept secret amongst those within the cult; until several defectors from The Umbra fled and entered the other regions of land owned by other groups within the frozen wasteland.
