Bonelord Vambrace

Welcome to The Bone Zone

"A relic of the Dairy Crusader, and a tragic reminder of his hubris."

Important Note:
This item is spoilers for a questline I wrote for when I eventually get to run Oniran D&D/PF2e. None of this will make sense but it might be funny out of context. When I eventually come up with how to go about writing questlines/adventures on WA it'll be the first one I publish.

his handwrap is all that remains of Callium the Bovine, the self proclaimed lich on a crusade for an elixir to grant him the power of Life magic. The tattered cloth, faded color, and flimsy metal makes the gauntlet's age apparent. The tusk ornaments are from an unknown source, but give off a faint feeling of necrotic energy to anyone attempting to detect magic.

Fittingly enough, spellcasters who equip this item will find that their spells have a peculiar augmentation. No matter the effect, no matter the element, no matter the school, spells cast with this gauntlet will have their element shifted into a sort of "Milk-style". A style only used by Callium himself. Milk Missile, Milk Bolt, Thunder Milk, Wall of Milk, Milk Splash, Milk Storm, Milkball, Milk Blade, etc.

But that is not where its power ends. Anyone who equips this gauntlet, regardless of their spellcasting abilities, will be granted just a fraction of necromantic power. While true necromancy is still an impossibility, in the heat of battle the user will be able to summon undead allies to fight by their side. Or even when you just feel a little lonely.

Rarity

  • Rare/Legendary

Type

  • Magical Armor

Association

  • Dungeons, (Questline)

Common Price

  • 1,500gm

Additional Notes

  • True Necromancy is impossible, not even magic can bring back the dead.
    • Magic that summons undead either does so from thin air, or from remains so old their identities are completely lost and forgotten.

Mechanics

  • In the context of a game, this is a high level gauntlet that needs a free hand in order to gain its effects.

  • Spellcasters of any kind will have the Milk Element added to their elemental spells. Probably heals skeletons and cleanses them of statuses.

  • Everyone who equips this will be granted the Deacons of Dairy spell. (The gauntlet also has charges btw)
Deacons of Dairy
"You channel the awesome power of Calcium-style Magic to summon a skeleton companion to fight by your side, or just to vibe."

  • Conjuration Spell

  • You summon 1 skeleton companion per cast.

  • The same skeletons are summoned every time, they are friendly towards you and your party and retain their memories after death.

  • The Skeletons cannot speak, but will always understand you and your party.

  • In combat, Skeleton Companions are controlled by the DM unless issued a command. They prioritize your survival when choosing both targets and actions.

While I would love to go on an adventure, writing them is enough for me.

All the art is made by me unless labled otherwise!

Author's Notes

This will have to be pretty bare bones for the time being, I'll come back to it when I come up with a way to write/publish the questline it's a part of. It'll be worth it though, at least I think so. I just figured now would be the perfect time to write this cause one of the Spooktober prompts is "Summoning". That's all, have a good one!
