Runeclaw
For the wizard who invests in Strength
"The magic of dragons leaves its mark on the wild, the magic of the wild leaves its mark on the Runeclaw, and the wielder of the Runeclaw leaves their mark on whoever they please."
So, you killed a Runeclaw. First off, congratulations! Most people don't. Just remember when looting that the claw itself is the most valuable part of the entire bear for reasons that are probably evident by this point.
The Runeclaw is an irresponsibly large gauntlet crafted from the spellcasting arm of a Runeclaw Bear, as well as several of its runestone conduits. So large, in fact, that for the average person the opening of the claw reaches up to their bicep.
Despite its appearance the hide is incredibly thick and stiff, even more so near the center, which makes it significantly easier for inscribing. In addition, this particular type of runestone is both extremely durable and volatile.
All of these aspects come together to make the Runeclaw an absolute force of nature in the right hands; serving as both an effective melee weapon and a powerful spellbook for a battle mage who specializes in Evocation, Enchantment, and Conjuration. Just inscribe your spells, charge the conduits, and proceed to rip and tear until it is done.

Additional Notes
- Harvesting a runeclaw is the only known method of accessing spells specific to the bear.
- Note: For spells like Chain Lightning, this is referring specifically to the bear's unique version.
- The conduits on a well crafted runeclaw retain their ability to absorb the energy of weaker spells targeted at the user.
- Spells outside the provided list can still be inscribed, but depending on the spell this may result in unstable casting. It's in your best interest to at least adhere to the same schools.
Mechanics
- In the context of a game, this would function as a melee weapon, a spellbook, and a spellcasting focus.
- The spellbook starts off either blank or with a random handful of spells from the list.
- This list is completely customizable as long as the schools are Evocation, Enchantment, and Conjuration.
- The user can cast spells from the list by spending a number of charges based on the spell's level.
- A higher level runeclaw can regain charges during combat under certain conditions.
- Elemental magic gets a small boost and weapon enchantments cast from the claw can target the claw itself.
- With some investment, all of these traits can be further upgraded and customized.

Author's Notes
My first ever experience with TTRPGs wasn't playing one, it was seeing the D&D episode of Regular Show. So when I did eventually play D&D for the first time I immediately remembered the scene with Muscle Man screaming about smashing open doors with a warclaw (iykyk) and based my entire character around that. I don't think I'll ever forget that afternoon.
Fast forward to now and I have finally created my own version of that memory that's distinctly me; I love battle mages, I love bears, I love runes, and I love the concept of warclaws. Honestly if I ever got to play in a Pathfinder 2e game set in my world I would wanna get this item as soon as possible. I'd build my entire character around it, too, I'm talking full on Magus/Ranger. It would literally be the dream. That's all, have a good one!
