Crowgaunt

Anatomy

Crowgaunts are physical spiritual manifestations. While they do not possess anything in the way of organs, the parts which make up a crowgaunt are very physical. Crowgaunts can take two different forms, and switch between them at will. The first form appears as nothing more than a flock of crows or ravens feeding on a corpse. This is their most common form in Vitus, as it arouses little suspicion and allows the crowgaunt to gorge itself on whatever its meal may be. It's second form is much more conspicuous, and far more menacing. This form is tall, standing between 12 and 20 feet, and is clad in a cloak of black feathers. Beneath this cloak the gleam of bleached bones can sometimes be seen. It's long limbs are each tipped in black, bird-like grasping razor-sharp talons. It has two arms and two legs, both of which are of exposed gleaming white bone. Above a ruffle of black feathers which is its neck rests a cluster of twelve giant raven or crow skulls. These skulls are its heads, and though eyeless allow the spirit to watch in all directions.

Dietary Needs and Habits

As the children of Ulitir, the Hungering God, crowgaunts are stricken with an eternal, unsatisfiable hunger. They seek out the dead and dying so they may gorge themselves. They are able to predict when and where there will be a great deal of death, and so can sometimes be seen near battlefields before battle. If one sees a crowgaunt, it is considered a sign of great misfortune. Crowgaunts can commonly be found near battlefields, massacre sites, and graveyards eating all they can.

Average Intelligence

Crowgaunts are highly intelligent, capable of putting into play complex plans, and are capable of rational thought. As spirits, however, their minds are somewhat alien to mortals, and so there maybe some difficulty in communication between the two due to that.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Because of their many heads, crowgaunts are able to see in a full circle around themselves. They are also capable of telepathy and creating illusions. They are also able to predict the future to a certain extent.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Crowgaunts are able to speak to and tame crows and ravens, and are often seen in the same company with them.
