Simon purchases a crown from an old dock worker in northern Scandinavia, and is influenced by its powers, slowly losing his sanity, memories, and personality, becoming the Ice King. The powers of the crown is seemingly the reason he survived the mushroom bomb. Upon wearing the crown he had said things that drove his fiance, Betty Grof run away from him, to later being brought to the present by a time machine that Simon built to say sorry to her.
