Creation of Opalia

Two queens, sisters, from the Feywilds. Dream of a world. And thus Opalia was born of those dreams. With color and joy, but also peril and conflict. This is the creation of the species of Opalia.

Queen Annirith took inspiration from nature's beauty and the elegance of the creatures she met. She looked at the fluttering butterflies and buzzing bees. She bestowed the insects with humanoid intelligence. And thus the Luminosity Fairies were born, dawning delicate butterfly wings, and sprites wearing more durable bee wings. Looking next to the animals of her lands, she found the cotton-tailed rabbits among the shifting lands, she gave them the gift of extensive knowledge, creating the wise and agile Harengon. Gazing at her soft mossy peaks, she sets her sights on the ram and imbues them with joy and splendor to enrich her world. Creating the Satyr. She discovers the free and wild horses of the flatlands and enchants them with strength and speed to protect her lands, now Centaurs. The delicate cats who adventure her Toadstool Grotto, are given the cunning and vigor of the newly created Tabaxi. Thinking of the simple Elves she grew up with, they bloom forth from the trees of her empire. However, not all Elves are the same. Those born of the Rosewillow wood are the Spring Eldrin. Those budding from the trees of the magma-coated Mossoft Peaks were destined to be Summer Eldrin. And finally, those emerging from the coast greenery are bestowed aquatic powers of the Sea Elves. And created from the shifting grasslands comes her own kin, the Changelings. She now looks down upon her domain as her civilization grows.     Synth took a different approach, peering at the spirits who haunt her, giving them new life from the lands. She does not worry of the intentions, for their alignment is their own choice. She first lays eyes on the soul of an old woman who mourns her child's death long after her own. She is given arcane gifts and reborn as a witch (hexblood), who has the potential to become hags of her territory. Looking farther into herself she sees a young boy, killed by his own father in a fit of rage. Disgusted, she bestows his power in a small Goblin body. Giving him the power to fight those larger than him. But they must have protectors, so she focuses on the lost apparition of a fallen soldier. She breathes life into him as a Hobgoblin, protector of the smaller counterpart. But a soul cries out, begging for his chance to be reborn. Suffering in a powerless state after his death at the hands of bandits. Synth feels pity for the tortured spirit and shunts him into the body of a Bugbear, a being of power. A wayward soul whose eyes have been slashed appears in her view. She gives them the gift of flight, and thus comes forth her Fairy who wears mesmerizing moth wings, and her tough sprites with bat wings. Each made to traverse the dark nooks of her empire. And finally, she peers at 2 Elf souls, one perished of frostbite, the other swept away by the wind. And this is where she blessed the siblings as Winter and Autumn Eldrin, so they never worry again. She finally looked within herself. And found the memory of the sisters baby brother, who died at a young age. With passion and vigor, she created the Changelings from him, so that he will forever live on in her people.
