You transmute the ground underneath a Medium or smaller creature's feet. The spell automatically fails if they are not standing upon a solid surface. The creature falls 10 ft. below the surface and must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a successful save, they evade the pit beneath them, moving 5 ft. to a space adjacent. On a failed save, they land at the bottom of the pit and are restrained. Rats swarm the bottom of the pit and deal 4d6 piercing damage.
At the end of each of its turns, the creature can make a Strength saving throw and attempt to clamor out of the pit. On a failed save, they take 2d6 piercing damage and remain restrained.
If you lose concentration on this spell, the creature takes 2d10 force damage and is immediately shunted to a space 10 ft above them.

At higher levels: When you cast this spell using a 3rd or 4th-level spell slot, you can target creatures that are Large or smaller. When you cast it using a 5th or 6th-level spell slot, you can target creatures that are Huge or smaller. When you cast it using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, you can target a creature that is Gargantuan or smaller.

Effect

The spell traps an unsuspecting target in a sinkhole that suddenly appears in the ground beneath them. The sinkhole is full of angry rats that bite the target while they are restrained within the rubble.
