Gloria de la Force

Gloria de la Force was a human fighter from Brightwater and the last commander of the Commonwealth Rangers.

Early Life

Gloria was born and raised in the swamp villages south of Brightwater along the Liberty Coast. As the eldest child to a single mother, she learned to take care of the family from a young age. She picked up hunting, trapping, and shooting skills from the community, and proved to be a gifted fighter. She left home to join the Commonwealth Rangers after the death of her mother in 1077.

Commonwealth Rangers

Gloria started with the Commonwealth Rangers primarily as a messenger and scout. She gained the nickname "the doe among stags," as a reference to the Rangers' insignia and to her gracefulness and small stature.
After the Rangers were decimated in a failed Y1079 raid against the Lich King of the Black Keep, Gloria took on a more leadership-oriented role. She inherited the enchanted sword of her fellow Ranger Lady Elle Duvall, as well as her position as the right-hand scout of Commander Jheronimous.
In Y1090, Gloria and the rest of the Commonwealth Rangers received orders from Jheronimous to report to the service of the Lich King of the Black Keep. She challenged her former mentor on the order, citing the destruction the Lich King had wrought both in County Brightwater in general and to their own troops just a few years prior. After a protracted bout of infighting between the Rangers who wished to follow the Lich King and those who wished to remain faithful to the Commonwealth's people, Gloria de la Force killed Jheronimous in battle and assumed the role of Commander.
Gloria forged an alliance between the Commonwealth Rangers and the Heroes of Brightwater in Y1094. Under Gloria's leadership, the Rangers were instrumental in breaking the Siege of Brightwater and assuring the defeat of the Lich King in the Battle of the Black Keep. After this, Gloria settled into a more hands-off leadership position, only going into battle again when necessary to defend the people of Brightwtaer.

Personal Life

Gloria met Francis de la Force, a young midshipman in the Brightwater Navy, in Y1081. The pair married and had a daughter, Blanche de la Force, in Y1083. After the birth of her daughter, Gloria spent the majority of her time at Francis's family winery in Brightwater unless a significant threat (like the rule of Lord Jheronimous) appeared in the Rangers' domain.
