Minotaur
A minotaur is a bull-like Anthrohumanoid creature originating in the Mystic Lands, though there are small communities of them living in the Aquatic Kingdoms, primarily on Isle Machmorraig.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Minotaurs are tall and broadly built, typically ranging from six and a half to eight feet in height when fully grown. Their large builds give them exceptional strength and endurance. Their horns are between eight and twenty-four inches long, measured tip to base, and they are capable of using them as powerful weapons. They have thick manes of hair extending from the crown of their head to well down their backs, and softer, more uniform hair extending from their chests or stomachs to their cloven hooves. Male minotaurs are more likely to grow hair on their chests, cheeks, and chins. Minotaurs also have tails that are usually between eighteen and thirty-six inches in length, and end with a small tuft of hair.
Genetics and Reproduction
Minotaurs give live birth to their young after a period of roughly eight to nine months. Young minotaurs are roughly the size of a three-year-old human, and are able to walk from birth.
Growth Rate & Stages
Minotaurs mature around ten years of age. The average lifespan of a minotaur is 50-70 years.
Behaviour
Minotaurs possess human-like intelligence. Their personalities differ, as all humanoids' do, but on the whole they tend to be gentle and steadfast, though capable of impressive rage if sufficiently provoked. They possess an innately strong sense of direction.
Civilization and Culture
Major Language Groups and Dialects
Most minotaurs speak Mystron, the language of the Mystic Lands, when among their own kind.
History
Some associate the minotaurs with Baphomet, as some cultists of the Demon Lord of the Maze find themselves transformed into minotaur-like figures. Most minotaurs are peaceful and have no connection with Demons, Baphomet or otherwise. However, cultists of Baphomet (largely present in the Verlorenwode) sometimes transform into minotaur-like creatures through dark rituals.
