Orbital Trawler
Orbital Trawlers, also known as Debris Haulers, Trash Trucks, Kessler Breakers, and Kessler Runners, are a class of specialized vessels designed to eliminate hazardous space debris that accumulates in orbit at high velocities. Most Orbital Trawlers come equipped with grappling arms, collection nets, and in some cases a compliment of drones equipped with similar capabilities.
Orbital Trawlers perform the important task of keeping orbital lanes clear of debris that could harm other vessels, stations, and satellites. These vessels tend to be heavily armored, with exaggerated armor "strike faces" to angle towards incoming debris swarms. Illicit organizations have found that Orbital Trawlers are effective at tanking weapons fire as blockade runners and are occasionally even used as ramming weapons themselves.
The first generation of Orbital Trawlers were fielded as a part of the Pathfinder project designed to clear Post-WW3 orbital debris and reconnect humanity with space. Since then a variety of organizations field Orbital Trawlers that continue to collect ambient debris, localized swarms that threaten orbital stations, and emergent debris from accidents or other orbital catastrophes.
