Terrestrial Forces

Terrestrial Forces (TF) are the land, air, and naval military forces of a nation that do not have the training or equipment to participate in warfare beyond Earth. Nations that are members of the Transnational Aerospace Security Alliance (TASA) maintain their own Terrestrial Forces for national defense and combat on Earth, while space combat remains in the realm of the joint forces of TASA. Most other nations and coalitions do not have such clear distinctions between Earth and Space forces, but the term is still used by TASA to make this distinction.
TASA military personnel tend to have a low opinion of Terrestrial Forces due to the typically lower entrance standards as Terrestrial Forces do not have to contend with the rigors of service in outer space. TASA Marines dismissively call Terrestrial Forces members "Terries". Some members of the Terrestrial Forces prefer the nickname "Terrier" evoking a scrappy, stubborn work ethic.
