Dragons

Dragons (also called Vivernia), are great, leathery-winged beasts, which some consider a threat to all of Orasrupt, especially considering their overwhelming subservient status to Yabalchoath. These dragons hold great power, both influentially and physically, and although they were meant as a cautionary tale, that does not prevent people from idolising their glory. While many old wives tales hold that you can identify how friendly or hostile a dragon might be based on their colour, that is a blatant falsehood. Rubrum (red dragons) might be more territorial than Aurum (gold dragons), but they are not necessarily more cunning or cruel.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Giant beasts. They tend to have four legs, and giant leathery wings, but there can be variations.

Biological Traits

The colors of the Great Vivernia, undoubtedly the most powerful children of YISUN are as follows:
  • Those of Glorious Gold scales are the Aurum. While these Vivernia might have found a home in the long forgotten plains of Orasrupt, they have since found a new home in the ever growing cityscapes. They are cunning wordsmiths, tending to favour diplomacy as a means to avoid fighting. But be wary, dear reader, for they are likely the most dangerous of them all for this, and might not hold true to their words. They breathe fire, but also hold the power to weaken the strength of their foes with a similar breath.
  • Those of Shining Silver scales are the Argenti. These Vivernia make their homes in the Mountains of Orasrupt. They are cowardly and deceptive, hiding from fights and from conversation. Some say they even hold the ability to freely change their form to walk unsuspectingly among the denizens of Orasrupt, but this is likely a myth. Do not mistake this, though, they are a threat - especially when they use their tricks to hide their location. While they might exhale the fiercest blizzard, their cowardly and nonconfrontational nature is also assisted by their paralysing exhalations. These make their hunt all the easier.
  • Those of Beautiful Bronze scales are the Pyropus. Their home is in the great Seas of Orasrupt, and they are more than adept swimmers. They use bribery and force to avoid fights, but are not afraid of a scrap. They are similarly said to hold the ability of changing their form, but this is likely also a myth. They also tend to challenge the great shipping lanes of the City as a means of generating wealth, smashing ships furiously with their enormous tails. They tend to use threats more than action, but are dangerous all the same. They can ignite furious lightning from their maws, enough to crack a ship in two, and they also hold the ability to instill great fear in their opponents.
  • Those of Charming Copper scales are the Aeramentum. These Vivernia live close to their Argenti bretheren, tending to be in the foothills of the great Mountains of Orasrupt. They are sharp tongued and full of wit, but quickly become hostile and annoying to those who they do not see to be smart enough. Many a strong warrior has found themselves enraged at the end of an Aeramentum tongue, so do not take this lightly. Their tricky nature makes them a strong ally and a stronger enemy. They may launch their own stomach acid at their foes, or expel a gas that slows the faculties of whomever is unlucky enough to be caught up in it.
  • Those of Brilliant Brass are the Aeneus. They have no true remaining home in Orasrupt, and favour the great Forge districts more than any other due to the great heat, as well as their general usefulness in the areas. Many smithies are, in fact, owned by one of many entrepreneurial Aeneus. Similar to their Golden brethren, they are adept linguists and enjoy endless small talk. Their docile nature tends to mean they are less cruel than their cousins, but they are still dangerous. They can breathe both a great stream of fire, as well as an exhalation that causes instant sleep.

Genetics and Reproduction

Initially, dragons came into being in a less customary manner. While there were certainly some made with the first orders of sustainers, it is not entirely so. They initially were a cautionary tale - those who hoarded their wealth would be cursed by the Gods, and they would gradually become a dragon, alienated from friends and family in their greed, paranoia, and jealousy. However, as more dragons appeared due to rampant greed or desire for power, they began breeding, and true dragons were born. Eventually, chromatic and metallic polymorphism would manifest, as well as basic sexual dimorphism. However, many suffering from wanton greed still manifest into dragons.
Lifespan
Unknown, likely endless
