Ebon Devils
The pinnacle of devilkind, ebon devils, through might, cunning, or sheer age, have but a single name, usually shortened into a
well-feared moniker. They can take on any form they choose, though typically it is constantly shifting at the edges, a reflection of the raw, barely fettered chaos that makes up their being.
They are rivaled only by the strongest and most cunning ancients in the universe, and at most have only ever numbered a few score. The hunger of their soul flames is immense, and they require great amounts of wealth and sacrifice to sustain it. In this way, an ebon devil need make no pacts for a thousand years or more, though in their frequent power struggles, many of their number become weak and desperate.
Ebon devils, though not responsible for the immensity Of the dark underside of Orasrupt, thrive upon it, fattening themselves upon the excess it provides them. They plot and scheme endlessly to control more of the city, brooding in their enormous lairs and scheming to overthrow the demiurges. Only one has been successful in this effort.
Ebon devils are regarded as the self-evident rulers of all devilkind, and practice their rule from the stygian depths of the Heretic's Court, From Within, the devils Izzlcob, Carnifex, Loabarrisleb, Thrax, Moab, Yawmga, and Void rule from their crimson thrones, in imitation of the Seven. The upstart Yabalchoath was the only devil to challenge this order in recent times, and is a notable success story.
