Gold Devils

Tall, pallid, and bedecked in rotting finery, Gold, or gilded devils are infamous for their cruel and sadistic manner. Summoned to serve as chamberlains, magistrates, and high class servants, they could be considered the intelligentsia of the devil world. Such is their acumen for business, science, mathematics, sorcery, politics, ritual, and even organised crime that it is not uncommon to see gold devils outmaneuver their masters and rise to positions of leadership themselves. For this reason. they are explicitly avoided by inexperienced summoners, for cautionary tales are abound of gilded devils performing spectacular feats such as selling their former masters into slavery or forcing them to serve as their court jester.

Gold devils love to accumulate wealth and its various trappings, such as servants and property. However, they do so not out of any true ambition, but an unconscious instinct. They typically bear absolutely no sense of allegiance, friendship, or empathy to any save, those that serve their needs. They are perfectly willing to sacrificre their servants and retainers by the dozens to achieve some minor goal. Like all other devils, they do not require sleep or sustenance, and have little pity for other beings that require such trivialities.

Gold devils, like most other devils, have several quirks, or rules, that they must follow, which can be exploited by anyone doing business with them. Firstly, they cannot enter any active dwelling without permission. Secondly, they cannot stand the sounds of bird calls. Savvy individuals will often keep caged birds on hand when conducting business with the Gilded in order to throw them off their game.
