Dwarf

"You ask me we're very underestimated. We don't tire, don't overheat, don't eat too much, nothing can bring us down. And if something's out of reach, we just use a stick. Where's the weakness in all that?"
A Dwarven merchant, drinking merrily.
What we call Dwarves in Orbido are not a genetically challenged kind of Human, but a full-flegded species. They are semi-trogloxene humanoids, mostly found inhabiting the mountainous regions of Orbido. As far as height goes, they are the shortest race of Orbido (if one dismisses the Imp form of the Demon race). But despite this restraint, the Dwarves grow up to be stockier and more resilient than most peoples.   Records from their First Sent imply that their cultures of colonists and travelers in the Old World seemingly survived their First Sending, and they explored the continent despite their altered appearances. Their journeys secured a reputation as excellent salesmen, explorers and metalworkers for their race.   Their two major settlements are: the Republic of Blunter, their place of origin, and the Gurdy Republic tha established itsefl to the West after a civil war cleaved the nation in half. It is important to note however that Dwarves have spread themselves into every realms as experts in the arts of blacksmithing, engineering and trading.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Dwarves share many similarities with Humans, but none ever rise above 1.3 meters at best. And yet they are heavier than their cousins. Their extremely well built trunk, with dense and developped erector spinae muscles, enables their thick limbs to display great power even without solid momentum. They present an abundance of bristle on their body as per their adaption to life underground, although their hair pales compared to the beast-like Legas. The features on their faces are larger than those seen in humans. Their ears have thinned and their nostrils have grown larger as well.

Genetics and Reproduction

Blessed with great endurance, the bigest factor for their high impregnation rates is the energy of both partners. Conception takes ten months and results in single individuals most of the time. Twins and such are just as rare an occurence as we can see in human families.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Their smaller frame requires less general intakes of nourishment or water, though they require a higher amount of proteins than Humans.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Endowed with large ears and dense bones, Dwarves are sensitive to sounds and can determine their location with great precision. Their taste buds are pretty nifty as they can taste microparticles of dirt in the air and determine what they come from, be it iron deposits, flower pollens or gas. Their sense of smell is quite good, acting in harmony with their sense of taste. As far as sight goes, they see slightly better in the dark than Humans, but not by much.
