Epiphane
The Avenged
Demon Lord Epiphane (a.k.a. The Betrayed, The Avenged, The First Lady)
"So shameful... It is all so... shameful..."The first and only female Demon Lord in History. Epiphane's story is a tragic one, and has inspired countless theater plays and novelisations. What history books and dramaturge concur on is that she was born way before the Conquest as the daughter of a cobbler. She served as a mere handmaiden for the Ulto Clan, a great force in its day. She rose through the ranks thanks to her talents as an advisor and a bodyguard. After she protected the heir of the Ulto Clan from assassins, she became an honorary member of the Clan. This new position gave her the chance to have a proper training, and evolve beyond the stage of Hellions after a few years. Trusted with an army, and Archdemoness Epiphania had a perfect campaign record. After a betrayal on the battlefield by jealous Ulto Demons, Epiphane was left for dead alongside her dearest soldiers. She survived a monster horde that scavenged the corpses of the battlefield. From revenge she drew strangth. When she rejoined the Empire, she had become a Demon Lord, which spooled Demon culture to its core. Her existence as a Demon Lord didn't last however. Her betrayers ganged up on her to silence her before her legend could spread. A mistake they paid for in blood. Gravely injured, the great Demon Lord would catch a fever and die slowly on a bed of the Ulto estate. Her last words have been reimagined countless times, serving many orators to push their views on the place of women in the army or the evils of traitors. Her few children were studied to see if they could become Demon Lord like her, serving as the basis for the future Breeding Citadels that the Demons are reviled for.
Epiphania's last words.
