Géraud I "le Fol" de Fortern

King Géraud Jean Clovis de Fortern (a.k.a. "le Fol")

A past king of the Fortern and successor of the Francia Empire. Géraud was a warring king who spent nigh half of his reign at war with the Demon Empire before madness took him over. His friendship with the notorious Général Braise Forja of Fortern was one of the highlights of his life. He was replaced by his second son, the reigning King Joan IV "The Driven" de Fortern.   Géraud led a long healthy first half of his life. His knack for strategy, strong physique and high amount of mana made him a born warrior said to be able to face Archdemon on his own. His people nicknamed him a "Hero King", despite no evidence that he possessed Hero blood. He had many children with two wives, the first dying of the Yellow Plague during festivities in Apostoli, the second a visitor from Dentra he believed would bear Hero children because of her lineage.   A change occured by the time he was 35. After facing the horrors of war and getting a head injury in battle, his demeanor changed to madness and his health slowly declined until nobody in his court could recognize him.
