Grudge Dueling
Dueling in itself is an old custom. However Demons handle their businesses differently than most other races. In the Empire, you can duel whomever whenver, and there are structures prepared just for that purpose. An Arbiter can be picked from the local Watch, or from a soldier of the Legion.
Once engaged, Grudge-Duellists rarely actually kill their opponents. They often break bones and tear flesh, but the duel is often called to a halt before lives are in danger. This efficiency stems from the Demon propency to. They follow strict codes of conduct.
The time and place was arranged by a second appointed by each individual – they also agreed upon a suitable location. The duel would be undertaken in a pubic area during the early morning or late evening, ensuring that the event, while witnessed, do not impend the normal city life. The result of a Grudge Duel are unchallenged by the authorities and free from legal consequences. However, if death ensued, the killer must pay for the waste of personnel.
The employ of weapons, as well as the use of abilities like magic are prohibited so as not to damage the surroundings if someone misses. Sending someone to duel in your stead is tolerated however, so long as the loss is acknowledged.History
Simple "Duels" existed long before the Demons got their Sending from the Old World. Grudge Duels however are more sophisticated, modern one can say.
