Newport

The second largest settlement in Midland. Despite its name, seafaring isn't its stronger point. Newport is placed near the shore, on multiple very fertile islands. But the settlers didn't count on the exit being a nest of sea monsters three out of four seasons of the year.
So while they can fish and travel in the waterways before reaching the sea, actual ports are practically useless. So Newport relies more on ferrying up the river and following the roads west towards Firstown and its more decent access to the The Green Sea.
