The Monster King
A supposedly immortal giant monster that governs every mana-tainted creature in Orbido. The boogyeman spoken of in every Orbidian household.
He is usually used as an excuse for when the monsters are acting in a seemingly organised fashion, such as assaulting fortresses or ambushing convoys. It is said that he orders his innummerable troops like a general to lay waste on the civilised world. However, nothing has ever provided conclusive proof of such an involvement by an Intelligent Super-Monster.
Rumors and say the King is taller than the tallest monsters, that his claws can tear through diamonds, and that nothing in the World, not even the Demon Lords, the Menian Palace Guards, or the likes of John Edge can withstand this monstrous being. Though any interaction with this supposed King and any of the aformentionned warriors has yet to be confirmed.
Summary
The Monster King mythos refers to the alleged existence of a superior monster, of a higher standing than High-Class ranking according to the Subjugation Guilds around the world.
Historical Basis
The first recorded telling of a Monster King comes from a Subjugator's diary that mentionned a different kind of monster, taller than all the rest, and quietly observing a village rather than attack it. Said Subjugator was found cut in half in front of Carsil's Edge, three days after his last diary entry.
The total numbers of giant moster sighting to this day is 73. Half of which came from non-governmental sources.
Spread
The myth spread to every realm in Orbido after the Conquest brought the Demon Empire's culture
Variations & Mutation
Visualisation of the entity varies greatly according to the land it settled in. Some giving it wings, other defining the King of Monster as a scaled Serpent.
Some records state that the Monster King is actually a Demon Lord specialised in Monster-Taming, acting on a scale larger even than the acting Demon Lord Mor Natar Beastseeker. This is a common interpratation in the Eastern Human Realms, given their proximity and hatred against the Demon Empire.
Cultural Reception
The Demon Empire treats the Monster King as the Ultimate challenge.
Fortern considers the fiend's existence as a rampaging threat on par with the Empire itself.
Some duchies adopted the Monsters as a being sent by the Senders to test people's capacity
Menia has had a growing cult viewing the Monster King as an Avatar of Order. A being sent by the Senders to punish the proud races that tried to unbalance the worldy powers.
Date of First Recording
Late winter 120 of the Imperial calendar.
