Varian Access
"There is still three quarters of a world to conquer. Gather the troops, ready the supplies. We will cross the Demonikon and claim the West!"
Lord-Emperor Mavrocles
The Varian Access is a valley-riddled region to the South-West of the Eastern Realms. It is a temperate-to-dry region that borders the coast of the Green Sea. Its name comes from how the landscape seemingly transforms as you advance, the hills disconnecting entire patches of biomes that look nothing alike. These "spots" of fauna and flora and the region's low access to clear water makes settlement building difficult. As a connective hub between East and West of the Situla Continent, its traveler traffic is quite high despite the few infrastructure present. To traverse the Access unabated, most rely on the Tricolored Crossroad, a rudimentary dirt pathway that connects the extremities of the region together. The goal of travelers is to reach the former Demon Fortress of Lakodia, at the top of a hill where caravans can rest and exchange passengers.
Naming
Midlanders call the region "Spotland", following their traditions of naming things as obviously as possible.Imperials see the diversity of its biome as an allegory of the Demon race and its varied colors and named it the Demonikon.
Geography
With its highest summits peering at around 900 metres, the Access is filled with uneven grassy valleys and sparsely wooded hills that keep hiding portions of its landscape from sight. It presents low slopes to its west and stepper climbs the more you head east, from above it would look like waves whose walls are made of spots instead of lines. The vegetation is quite dependent on the rainclouds the Green Sea brings in since no river provides the region.
History
In the earliest centuries of modern Orbidian civilisations, the Access was explored thouroughly but barely populated, the Humans of the region prefering to stay in the grasslands of their Realms.
In the third century of Easternite presence there was great infrastructure project by the Kingdom of Dentro-Santos. It saw to the birth of the Tricolored Crossroad to allow exchanges with the newly spawned Midland. During the course of the fourth Imperial Century, the Access saw a lot of @Imperial acivity to ease the passage of armies to the west and the pursuit of the Conquest. But the efforts were minimal compared to the implementation of an effective navy to transport troops from Dentra to neutral Midland and the vassalized Bunshin.
