The homeworld of the
Saavi race. Its a planet with predominantly one mega-continent, and a smaller offset, with smaller more remote islands across. The main continent on a wide scale is described as crudely holding resemblance of a fist holding out two fingers - once mapped, some time a few centuries ago, it was thought to be like a casting spell paw. Given how many magical oddities persist in their land, they've considered this is metaphorically the greatest spell cast of all, and have largely named the continent Lifecast. Yet the planetary name predates it, and has stuck around somewhat more to a larger scale, though given how busy their continent is much of the Saavi culture may use Lifecast interchangeably with the world and continent.
The planet is full of magic across both its crops, some wildlife, and natives, as well as even a secretive second side akin to an underworld or sense of strung connection to things started here. Its a strange anomaly of a place, but one quite a few aliens have made trips to for curious study or exploitation. The second world is sometimes called the Mirrorworld, shade realm, or Prifoan. While not fully functional in a traditional scientific ecosystem sense, its believed Prifoan has functions necessary to run the roots of the magic of the planet, and helps occasionally guide natives that are well versed in experimenting with magic and meditation.
Plants
Lumasia: A blue-purple grape, believed to glow brightly and adapt magic that helps attract moths to feed on it while it subtly attaches seeds. Its a form of magicrop grape that makes folicles like fur glow and illuminate brightly. Commonly used across society for a few purposes, including hunters marking game, to helping spelunkers and substitute torches.
Jellyberry: A red and sometimes purple berry with a bubbly skin, somewhat like a raspberry or blackberry, but bigger like a strawberry. Its filled plump with a sticky and jam tasting juice that's made it become widely loved in taste and baking, but also revered for its magicrop property of reacting vibrantly with magic in a user. However, consuming even a subpar serving plumps up the consumer in rapid response, and enough indulgence over time transitions their body into a viscous blob of overcharged magic without form. Numerous theories speculate its odd principles in a nature sense, with some believing its late-stage blobbing side is a toxic reaction of the seeds that often lasts a very long time in the gut, and can emerge even a month later if the user has became a massive blob. However if left alone, the fruit is very easy to plant without such an effect, so its thought to be less parasitic than defensive or protective of its seeds, and Saavi are more resilient to it than some wildlife.
Uquilura: A round magenta berry that perishes quickly after being picked. Its believed to be deeply tied in magical properties to the planet itself, with a sensory charge towards the underlying inverted side of the world. However in straight and potent doses, the effect sort of drugs the consumer and forces them to shades while still engaged more on the mundane world, and stunts their emotions to be more in a state of panic. Proper care in forming a more palletable mixture can make its effects more of a gateway of visiting the inner realm, but failing to do so can create panic and frightening hallucinatory trips in the consumer.
Aguilura: Related to the Uquilura berry, more of a tomato-red in color. This is a berry that produces straight neurological excitement and adrenaline. Taken by people already stressed or poor with self-control, tends to fill them with rage or emotionally sick mood swings. Its never distributed with kind intent. Some warriors claim to take it in fierce conditions, while others have used it to jeopardize people in social groups.
Tuvoa: A mango or peach-like tree fruit that grows especially favorable in warm conditions. When consumed, it produces a neurological effect of extreme excitement, and often damages the user's perception of acceptable speech and 'filter', making them often very talkative and honest. Its sometimes used as a 'truth serum', though that is ironically dishonest in itself, and the more genuine result is just that the person will just blabber more loosely. What they say isn't always earnest, but may be for laughs, quick reactions, or just in a feverish high, but it is better at slipping secrets or breaking lies in this state than without it.
Flamm Pepper: A red pepper with an orange tip. Its only orange until its ready to be picked, and rare to find as its highly illegal across most of Saavi society, but hard to regular in more off-trail places or nefarious groups. Its magicro effect is destructive, granting a fire-shooting breath. It has a sometimes spontaneous chance to 'sting' the user, and is a bit reckless to use, but very potent and sometimes used as a chaotic resort among soldiers. Its old name was Flammura, but Flamm pepper became more popular to say with an expression that just speaking its shorter name after eating would test a bout of its effects.
Gocob Bean: A magicrop bean that is almost the reverse effect of most plants of its type. Potentially thought to protect its own plant soils from magic where it grows, the bean has properties often stunting other forms of wild magic, and can stunt the use of most spot magic abilities or dampen other plant effects when consumed. Sometimes used as a tool of self-restraint or in medicine for ailments, but in most cases its used to pacify a threat or snuck in as an ingredient in drinks as a form of combat sabotage. However its also said to be simply delicious in its own right, with a nutty flavor.
Animals
Krackler Lizard: A small lizard about the size of a hand across its base body. It has a volatile fluid it uses to help melt and absorb bug and plant nutrients, but has become famous for how it reacts in a chemical meltdown. When killed or disturbed to a great degree, the fluids back up and have a gastric reaction that implodes the creature like a low-radius grenade. Some daring (or just cruel) saavi have used them to toss for makeshift weapons, however they're also a risk in rare moments they build nests within a town.
Sailor Turtle: Also called a Floatshell for its simpler instance. Its a bug eating large turtle with a shell seemingly a bit magic-enhanced with some buoyancy, allowing it to always skirt and float along bodies of water where it enjoys eating insects. Some saavi use their shells (often searching more for ones dead by natural causes) and carve them into shoe soles or boat pieces for giving their tools the ability to cross lakes and rivers, or in rare moments seas.
Geocre: An ape-like species of creature. It lacks magical properties, but has an extremely dense hide that has been used to make one of the superior forms of hardened leather for saavi soldiers. It tends to have an appearance almost like timber and stone, without any fur, and they became very irritable but rare to see during the winter.
Tzumox: A moderately big ram-ox type beast. It has a strong and heavy body, and tends to be at least somewhat territorial. The scalp has magically imbued horns growing out, often being straight along its head. When magical elements come in its direction, it magnetically races to the horns and fires back off the tip. As such, they're more dangerous beasts to unarmed saavi, but also killed for their horns to be made into repulsion wands.
Laekoch: A water fowl type. Somewhat like a duck and chicken mixed together, its semi-aquatic and loves being close to grains and waters. Its sometimes kept and farmed in mid-sized enclosures with grass, corn, and a little pool. They tend to grow between .6-1 meter tall. They have sharp rounded beaks, and somewhat plump bodies, with colorful feathers often of some shade between turqoise and blue. Male roosters tend to have a feathery frill they can unfurl, with vibrant red and threatening colors encircling its head. While not magical innately, they have been known to occasionally ingest and benefit from magicrops. In domestication, they're a popular food item, essentially being one of the core 'chicken' replacements of Kalfoan. They are poor flyers, but can still go a distance with it.
Laedrak: Like a larger form of the Laekoch. Its big and foreboding, even more predatory. Largely inspiring Kalfoan's own mythos for dragons, this creature is a large feathery beast with reptilian eyes, and a fierce snapping beak with serrated edges. It has a long prehensile tail that assists in snapping at fish or other prey, or lashing like a defensive whip. It has low evolved magic, with its frill having a very short flashing stun of radiant mana, and a strange pocket organ that can boil water for a searing spit. However its tail and body mass make it heavier, and it lacks any serious flight ability. Its meat is more expensive and polarizing, with some debating its quality between the Laekoch.
