Ratline is a failed restaurant owner, failed thief, failed teacher, and failed father. He has taken to the sea in order to keep as far away from his past as possible, and possibly make amends in whatever way he can. Sure, he gets into some strange situations, but he always keeps a level head and displays extreme loyalty to those who have gained his trust.
