Goblin

Small nasty creatures with pointed ears. They love to kill and fight. They love blood. They love to experiment with everything that explodes...
They love a lot things and some say they are more animals than people. This might be correct for the goblins in general because they are dumb and of low intelligence. They are ruled by their instincts and don't plan or think a lot.
This isn't true for a small percentage of goblins. They have the intellect of thousands of their companions. They are the ones that rule and control the others. One goblin was special above all others "Hob".
Hob was a very clever goblin and was interested in alchemy. He searched for infinite live but by accident he discovered the Hob elixir in the year 467. A powerful schnapps that increased the intelligence of goblins by many multidues. He and his family secluded the knowledge about the elixir up until 200 years ago (ca. 1200 SY). One member of the family decided to spread the knowledge which led to the fall of the famous Hob family. The users of the elixir and their descendents call themselves Hobgoblins in order to seperate them from the normal goblins.
Goblins and especially the Hobgoblins are known as great alchemist especially poisons are their domain.
A forgotten secret is that goblins were created by the spectrals based on the Elves. The love for alchemy of led to irreversible incident by the hand of a spectral which wisted their bodies and mind that much that almost everything is lost except for the sharp tipped ears.
