Sons of the Whisperer

The Sons of the Whisperer are a group of fanatical followers of the god Medrash  who have fallen for the promises and visions with which the god of chaos has lured them. There are various ways in which these visions can reach people, but the most common is the distribution of Medrash's artefacts. These are usually harmless-looking everyday objects, which are equipped with a kind of contact spell that enables Medrash  to penetrate people's minds and corrupt them if they look at them for too long. The visions target the weaknesses and fears of the victims and are both incredibly cruel and yet difficult to understand or put into words. Artists, musicians and actors are particularly susceptible to this type of contact, as they are often inclined to process what they have seen through their art. But in doing so, they usually only plunge themselves further into madness. A few who have opened their minds particularly wide to the promises of Medrash can become one of his avatars. They serve as his deputy and extended arm in the world of the living, usually have additional abilities and enjoy special prestige and rank in the cult of his followers.
