Cirra

Description

The flighty Miss Cirra is the goddess of clouds and weather, and she is cursed nearly as often as she is blessed. Though she nominally lives carefreely in the Palace of Ice and Rain in Celestia, she spends most of her time lazing about the skies of the mortal plane on a bed of clouds; observing the world below and influencing the weather (for better or for worse) with her fickle moods.

Appearance

Cirra takes the form of a large, fat, beautiful woman. She is as large as the clouds themselves, and floats about the sky paying no mind to gravity as she plays amongst her winds. She has a greyish skin tone and wears casual, loose flowing robes of silver. She has clear blue eyes, fat cheeks and lips, and billowing hair made of clouds that surround her and change appearance to represent her varied emotions. Her mouth and lungs are large and powerful, and her voice is booming.

Personality

Cirra is what one might consider an airhead, and is a bit ditzy. Her attention frequently drifts about from one topic to another, and one moment's object of obsession can be forgotten in the next. She gets bored living all by herself in Celestia and so she spends most of her time in the Mortal Realm, laying about in her negligee, watching the people of the Mortal Realm from her cushions in the sky. As goddess of the clouds and winds, she has control over the weather and is less than responsible with this power due to how forgetful and free-spirited she is. Cirra is prone to expreme mood swings, and her influence over the weather is usually dictated by her emotional state. When Cirra is upset, the weather is likely to change abruptly, causing chaos on the high seas. Her prissy and volatile attitude combined with her incredible power means that she is frequently at the center of drama involving gods, mortals, or both.

Worship

Worship of Cirra is common, especially among sailors to whom the the difference between fair weather or storms can be the difference between life and death. It is considered extremely bad luck to speak ill of Cirra aboard any kind of sailing ship, as it may draw her ire. Conversely, sailors who are beset by ill weather often praise Cirra and her weather – sometimes even singing songs extolling her beauty and the grace of her storm – in order to calm her foul mood and the storm it brings. Shrines to Cirra can be found wherever the graces of the clouds are of great import, but are almost always high up in the open air such as on the roofs of farmhouses, on large stones outside remote villages, and in the crow's nest of ships. It is common for those plagued by foul weather to pray to Cirra for relief, but almost as common are prayers by those seeking freedom and clarity by the grace of her fresh winds. Clerics of Cirra preach freedom, travel, and experiencing new things. They believe that variety is the spice of life and encourage flights of fancy in their followers. While their clerical vestments are often loose flowing robes of white and silver, they often wear practical waterproof clothes when they travel so as not to be taken off guard by Cirra's whims.
Symbol A collection of pillowy clouds, usually three in a group, tinged with colors that represent her mood.   Titles Miss Cirra, Queen of Storms, Sweet Lady of the Breeze   Portfolio Wind, Storms, Passion   Domains Tempest, Nature, Light   Favored Weapon Javelin
