Summary
Elves are tall, slender, dark-eyed, and nomadic, and their unnatural grace confounds other races. Elves are incredibly tall and willowy, standing from 6 and a half to over 7 and a half feet in height, but weighing only 80 to 170 pounds. Their skin tones range from amber to reddish brown, and their long, sweet-smelling hair comes in brilliant natural hues from leafy greens to pale flax and deep browns. Elven eyes do not have whites, instead they are large, unform, and dark with hues of green or purple. Elves have long pointed ears, and the males have markedly longer ears that stick out past the back of their head. Ears are commonly ornamented across genders with beads, paint, and feathers. Elves live the longest of any race on Orentia, maturing in their 30s and living for over 250 years.
Elvish culture highly values Wildspeakers (druids), Kanati (rangers), and Spirit Keepers (monks) but disregards wizards as ambitious, unnatural, and dangerous.
Elven Traits
Ability Score Increase: Your Dexterity score increases by 2.
Size and Speed: You are medium size and have a base walking speed of 30 feet.
Elf Weapon Training: You have proficiency with the pike, shortsword, shortbow, and longbow.
Darkvision: Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Keen Senses: You have proficiency in the Perception skill.
Fey Ancestry: You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.
Trance: Elves do not sleep. Instead they rest by meditating deeply, remaining semi-conscious, for 4 hours a day. The Common word for this meditation is "trance." While meditating, your consciousness leaves the body to drift across the dream realm. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit a human would from 8 hours of sleep.
Languages: You speak Common and a few varieties of the Elvish languages, a class of languages spread across the Elvish nations with devilishly complex grammar that makes heavy use of symbolism and allegory in common speech. While Elves speak many Elvish languages, these languages tend to be similar enough and their speakers multilingual enough that a speaker of any Elvish language can make themselves understood to another. It has no alphabet, rather using a dense oral tradition. Information that is put down in writing is done so in visual metaphor on cloth or tanned hide.
