Description
Hjalmarr is the dwarven god of battle and storms, worshipped by many as a paragon of strength. He travels the planes on his sail-less ship driven by his two sleipnir Kveld and Elding (Dusk and Dawn) slaying monsters and seeking worthy challenges. The sleipnir are his sons - famously begat in
the tale bearing their names - and their magical horseshoes allow them to gallop across the waves. He often quarrels with his younger sister Oddrun, and usually gets the better of her in the end.
Appearance
Hjallmarr appears as a strong and handsome dwarven man, with long red hair and beard. He wears heavy armor and displays his scars proudly upon his face. His voice loudly booms and crackles with thunder.
Personality
Hjalmarr has a brash, straightforward, and sometimes brutish personality. He is the sort to act first and ask questions later, which has brought him both trouble and glory in the past. He respects any sort of head on approach, and detests fear and cowardice. He is proud, but not vain.
Worship
Worship of Hjalmarr is common among men in Dwarven society. Guards, soldiers, and vikingrs especially revere him as master over their occupation's domain. Shrines to him can be found in ships, barracks, and battlefields, but more often than not worshippers will inscribe passages from or images of his exploits onto their weapons rather than create holy sites. Clerics of Hjalmarr wear armor and carry weapons so as to always be ready for battle, and seek to help the weak become strong.
