Description
Oddruun is the Dwarvish goddess of artisans and mischief makers. She is a great craftsman among the gods, and is responsible for the creation of many legendary artifacts such as The Sampo, a wheel-like box capable of producing any treasure, and Bifrost a traveling bridge between planes woven from rainbow light. She is known for her great cunning and frequent spats with her brother
Hjalmarr. Her greatest body of work is her Secret Knots, a collection of knot tying, knitting, and weaving techniques that impart supernatural properties upon the impossible knots and threads themselves.
Appearance
Oddruun appears as a handsome Dwarven woman with terrifically long black hair and a clean-shaven face. Her hair is kept hip to ankle length by braiding them into her Secret Knots, and their style changes regularly. She crafts her own clothes which are perfectly tailored to her wide, ample figure and finely decorated with patterns to suit her interests. She carries a large bag, which hides her secret workshop within, and a wry smile upon her face.
Personality
Oddruun is a witty and creative god known for paying her grudges in kind. She has an active, open demeanor, and is a loyal friend. She is quick to take insult towards anyone disparaging her or her crafts however, and while her vengeful schemes are rarely cruel, they are hardly harmless either. She values ingenuity and persistence, and is disgusted by those without ruth or humor.
Worship
Worship of Oddruun is common amongst Dwarven craftsmen of all kinds as well as artists and skalds. The practice of maintaining and braiding beards and hair is a Dwarven tradition heavily influenced by Oddruun, and artistic renditions of the Secret Knots are a common shorthand for divine mastery and Oddruun's influence in Dwarven culture. Prayers to Oddruun are often said before and after crafting or construction projects of importance such as family homes, tombs, or shrines. Her shrines are often found in workshops, shipyards, or in halls. Clerics of Oddruun near universally officiate Dwarven weddings and are the originators of the phrase "tying the knot." They will usually dedicate their lives to learning one of the Secret Knots, and many succeed. Temples to Oddrun frequently act as patrons of the arts and help craftsmen to find apprentices.
