Description
Before Orent, there was nothing. The god Orent manifested as the first will, and became the first individual to exist. Orent beheld that they were the only being in the universe, and that the universe consisted of only Orent, and was therefore a single entity without change. Orent sought to see change, to see divergence, and so they split the universe - themselves - into two aspects: Orentus, the male, and Orentia, the female. For some time Orentus and Orentia rejoiced in their dissimilarity. They spoke after a time and came to agree that they should make the universe into more than just themselves. Orentus brought Orent inside Orentia, and in her womb they reformed their bodies into the vessels that make the planes of the world, containing all manner of beings, all aspects of life, and all manner of divergence between them.
Appearance
Orentus and Orentia do not manifest as humanoids like other gods do, rather their manifestation is the world itself. In truth, all people, plants, waves, and stars are the appearance of Orent. When Orentus and Orentia are portrayed, it is often as vauge male and female humanoid forms made of the sky, ocean, natural elements, or light. Occasionally, Orent themselves is portrayed as an androgenous, ephemeral humanoid form surrounded by darkness and working with their hands.
Personality
Orentus and Orentia take a passive role in the affairs of men and gods, acting as silent observers of their world for the most part. They are happy to give magic to their clerics but it is rare that they ever manifest miracles or speak directly to their worshippers. They are busy maintaining their creation. As such, very little is known of their temperament and desires. It is well known that they appreciate craft, change and those who bring them, are aggrieved by despoilment of their body, and fiercely oppose the machinations of demons and devils which seek to destroy their creation. Beyond this, the thoughts and desires of Orentus and Orentia are subject to much debate among clerics and scholars as is almost everything else about them. It is even debated whether or not Orentus and Orentia are a single entity, seperate consciousnesses, or male and female.
Worship
Worship of Orentus/Orentia is fairly common if often unrecognised. Much like Orentus/Orentia, their worship takes place in the background of most people's lives. Across cultures, those who work the land, those who make a living on the open sea, artists and artisans, as well as scholars, monks, and those who study the natural world all tend to worship Orentus/Orentia. Notably, shipwrights frequently worship Orentus/Orentia as well, regarding them as the creators of the greatest vessels in existence. Shrines to them can often be found in locations of natural beauty on land or at sea as well as in shipyards and workshops. It is common for those who find themselves working in corcert with the mysteries of creation to pray to Orentus/Orentia for guidance or in gratitude. Clerics of Orentus/Orentia tend to preach respect both for the natural world and the people within it as all are part of Orent's creation. Such clerics are especially sought after to christen ships for safe passage. They encourage kindness and harmony and support those who strive to learn about or change the world such as adventurers, scholars, and settlers, and frequently engage in charity and conservation work.
