Appraisal

A process by which someone learns the name and attributes of a piece of equipment or magic item. If the Skill requirement of the item is sufficiently lower than a person's Skill, they can Appraise it by inspecting it. Otherwise, a spell can be cast to reveal the item's properties. There are civilian classes that grant large bonuses to a person's effective Skill for the purposes of appraisal, and they make part of their living Appraising items for adventurers.
