Striped dread.

...Running through the night, far from where you came, hunted... Shadows sliding by and by. You guess: "there, or there?" Looking to see where your pursuers will strike from next. You hear the huffing and puffing from beings that see you as a meal and a game. Panic strikes your heart, you fall. Your pursuers come into the moonlit night, teeth bare, eyes traced, looking for the juiciest spot to bite. Four wolfs who haven't eaten in days, salvate at your meaty, to be, corpse. As all seems lost a bestial roar breaks through the thickening, tho not close, the roar is frightening non the less. The wolves stand there, listening, looking towards their prey, they are hungry, but not enough to risk their lives, as they wander away into the opposite direction of the roar, because there is always a bigger beast in the woods...
From the book "In the Feral lands" by Kally Talltales,
in which she mentions the roar of the stripped dread.
Description

A large, hot-blooded apex predator, characterized by its striped fur and defining roar. Their claws are known to be able to slash through leather and metal armor. And their roar can bring grown men to their knees.

Usage

They are used as caged pets, in the town square, to scare off any creatures that would wish to attack them. If any creature is sited near a town the Striped dread is poked until it releases a fear-inducing roar that scares away any predators.
It was discovered in the great forest, by an adventurer, that commentated on it saying: ''The only reason why we could capture it was because it had just run away from a bloody fight, the thing that scares me the most is that we haven't seen the creature that it ran away from, nor heard anything, but ask anyone in the party, we were being watched..."
