The professor is old enough that most people have forgotten his history. He claims to be from a small farm where he grew up tinkering and inventing. He claims to have invented many of our modern luxuries and necessitates including the Keel boat, fireball, and water treatment. About 200 years before going to the new world he was working as an artisan and inventor for a former Gull. Not satisfied with the work he left for the new world to continue his work in peace.
