Greetings, my darklings. I am Learza. I have another name, except . . . well, it’s not so much a name as it is a description of what I am. But where is the fun in telling you things like that? Because if I were to tell you, I think I would be unfairly judged, and if there’s anything I hate, it’s other people being unfair. No, I think it would be much more fun to tell you about myself in other ways. It is a marvel my sister admitted being Death to you all, though I suppose it would be hard for her to hide it what with her “wreaths of shadow” as she describes it. Now me, I can look like anything I want. I can sound like anything I want. And unlike my sister, I can also appear to anyone I want. Quite frankly, I can do whatever I want.
So long as you choose me . . .
But let’s not pester you with questions like that. It’s much too early to make such an important decision. I’m still a stranger to you, after all, and I will let you in on a secret that my sister may have misrepresented me in a few of her loving comments. I’m sure she didn’t mean it.
To fix the error, allow me to introduce myself on my terms. From the unicorn’s mouth, as it were, hm-hmm. What better way to begin than to show you where I live? Just come here, and—
Oh, I almost forgot to ask. I’m supposed to do that still. For now . . .
So, then. Do you want to? See it, I mean. My Master would be delighted to have new guests, and if you are still nervous because of what my sister said, let me assure you that choosing to enter my home is not the same thing as choosing me . . . unfortunately. Which is why, depending on what you choose, the visit can be as short or as long as you like. So, the choice is yours.
