Continent of Serrus - Primer
Some scholars claim that Serrus is the center of the world. While that may not be true, it is certainly the most populace continent on Orrus being the homeland to hundreds of thousands of humankind. The continent itself is fairly temperate over most of its surface, although the farther north one goes the more tundra and ice one will find. Toward the south, the climate also tends to be more equatorial staying relatively warm most of the year.
Serrus is divided by a great mountain chain known as the Veran Mountains, colloquially known as the High Peaks. They are so aptly named after the first legendary explorer to cross them successfully when man was still young and tribes wandered the world. This geographical boundary has also contributed to the ethnic split of the original Ametrian people at the dawn of mankind.
This range of mountains is extremely high and dense and only in a few places is one able to cross and even then it is treacherous and impassible during the colder parts of the year due to heavy snow. The only largely secure path is the High Pass that is controlled by and winds through Argau from eastern Frisia.
There are three main oceans surround Serrus. The northernmost is the Barren Ocean, a cold bleak semi-frozen ocean. To the east is the Wavecrash Ocean with heavy seas and high winds. To the south and west is the Endland Ocean, which, to those in the civilized north, marks the boundary of mankind.
The entire continent is splashed with massive forests ranging from frozen pine to stout oak and birch woods. The people of Serrus all live and thrive among these woods.
There are many countries inhabiting the continent, all quite unique and diverse.
I’ve traveled from Nordtip in Frisia, to the cold fjords of Vendsysselland, all the way to the backwaters of Cardovia, and through Argau to New Cambria. Serrus holds many beautiful places. Some places are better left unexplored. These areas are rife with vicious beasts and spiteful spirits. Even in a learned world such as ours, there are still mysteries even in our own backyard. If you decide to tread in these areas of Serrus, be careful, for they might tread on you back….
