High Mercybringer Gwendolen Farhaven

High Mercybringer Gwendolen Farhaven (a.k.a. The shining feather)

The Current High Mercybringer of The White Doves is Mother Gwendolen Farhaven. She is the youngest Dove to be High Mercybringer in the order’s history at age 29. She was an orphan left on the steps of Roadsmeet abbey and raised as a White Dove. She quickly became one of the most talented members of her order and some even said she embodied Saint Abegail perfectly. When the previous High Mercybringer Ellen Westerlan passed away, the Bishops unanimously elected Gwendolen into the position. Mother Gwendolen is an inspiration to her order and she has brought quite a bit of prestige to the order since her promotion three years ago.

Personal history

Not much is known about Gwendolen's birth parents or life before the Abbey. She was left on the steps of Roadsmeet Abbey as a baby and was raised by the sisters there.   In her youth she was tutored as any young nun would. She learned herbalism, history, and heavy schooling on [Ametrianism](https://www.worldanvil.com/w/orrus-Androkles/a/ametrianism---primer-article) through daily life, chores, and church services. As she grew, her faith and knowledge did as well. On her 15th birthday, she decided to join the White Doves after an incident where she was traveling with a group of pilgrims heading to Lakechurch for a yearly commune where their group was beset upon by brigands.   Her exploits within the Order began to spread. At every turn, Gwendolen was surprising the higher members of the Order with her skill and grace at diplomacy and arms. Of her exploits, one solidified her current position. Ellen Westerlan, the High Mercybringer at the time, was abducted from her summer lodge outside of Dun Locbar in High Cylgna by religious dissidents. Negotiations had failed day after day and Westerlan's health was fading under the harsh conditions and her age. While the rest of the Order and the Ametrian Church was deadlocked about what to do about the situation, Gwendolen took it upon herself, against the Order's wishes, and gathered a group of White Doves and left for the Ymylwood, where it was known that the dissidents were hiding.   When the group found the rebels and the imprisoned High Mercybringer, a skirmish ensued with the White Doves prevailing and Westerlan released with minimal casualties. This alone was a deed worthy enough alone of the position, but in the ensuing months, the low-born that supported the dissidents were growing and a full-fledged rebellion seemed imminent. Gwendolen herself negotiated between the church and the rebels and an agreement was struck that appeased both sides. Disaster was avoided and Farhaven's skill at mediation was readily apparent.   When Westerlan passed away a few years later, the White Doves placed Farhaven as High Mercybringer.
I petition his Lord Duke to allow free passage to pilgrims through his land. They are poor, tired, and downtrodden. The Archbishop of Liggen surely would look favorably on this most kind and merciful gesture.
